International Online Festival of Latin Theater

Actor’s powerful force to move people

July 24-31, 2020

The Festival is an initiative that emerged in 2020 to keep live theater active and to reunite with the audience. A new virtual stage that is here to stay.

We want to create new opportunities for Latino talent to be showcased and for them to be able to entertain, move, and transform audiences through the powerful force of theater. Through it all, technology has become even more so an integral part of how we interact with the world. We believe that it can serve as a bridge between us and our audience, as well as audiences to come, while we await the reopening of our true home: the theater. To be able to continue this art form through a digital platform is a definite expression of theater’s resilience.

With this festival, we want to stimulate the use of the virtual as an alternative option for live theater, which we believe will continue to exist even when in-person theater returns.

WINNERS

SOR JUANA INÉS DE LA CRUZ AWARD

Me llaman La Lupe

Samantha Castillo

International Online Festival of Latin Theater

A new stage for actors to stand on and re-engage with audiences during this digital hiatus provided by Water People Theater.

We want to create new opportunities for Latin talent to be showcased and for them to be able to entertain, move, and transform audiences through the powerful force of theater.

It is also a new stage for the public to reconnect; providing audiences the opportunity to be another member of the judging panel at the festival.

The event will take place from July 24-31, 2020.
